What if I tell you that The Raid Redemption is the best action movie I have seen in a long time, and that it's Indonesian! I know, it sounds a bit strange, but those Indonesian dudes know how to fight and kick ass big time. The director, Gareth Evans, isn't really known (except for Footsteps and Merantau - a Singaporean Movie), but nonetheless he succeeds in creating a great film with non-stop kick ass action all the way through it.
The Raid Redemption is about an Indonesian SWAT team in Jakarta who are sent to take over a building owned by a local powerful mobster and his small army. As we may expect, nothing goes as planned and once the team is being detected, all hell breaks loose, and once the bullets run out, the machetes, knives and fists come out and the real fighting starts. When I watched The Raid Redemption I felt like it's an old Van Damme movie only if it was made today, better, bloodier and faster.
All and all, The Raid Redemption is highly recommended, you won't be disappointed, I promise.
